Grain School in the Field is a 2-day field course organized through the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), taught for the first time in 2021 and offered on an annual basis held at various locations throughout Colorado during the growing season. These field-based courses are open to the public and students from various universities, including UCCS.

Grain School in the Field builds on Grain School online and includes a limited number of lectures and discussions by topic experts but focuses on workshops and hands-on learning with several tracks ranging from farming and processing to culinary applications.

The first Grain School in the Field is scheduled for fall 2021 with topic on “Restoring the Food Ways of Corn”. The course will be held in collaboration with the Pueblo Food Project and its 2021 Sun, Soil, and Water Summit at Pueblo Community College Nov 14, followed by a field day at the Excelsior Farmers Exchange in Boone CO near Pueblo, CO November 14, 2021. The field day is capped at 50 participants.
