Making Sourdough Pizza Crust

Nikki Fioretti

Sourdough Pizza Crust:

I followed a recipe I got from Krista which uses 250 grams of flour, 200 grams of water, 25-30 grams of sourdough starter, and 1 gram of salt.
Since I do not have scale I tried my best to convert the ingredients into cups and tablespoons.
I mixed the ingredients and let the dough sit for about 20-30 minutes.
Some of the conversions seemed a bit off so I had to add some extra water and play around with it until I felt it looked okay to use.
I used tomato basil sauce from Trader Joe’s, mozzarella from sprouts and put mushrooms on it. When it came out of the oven I sprinkled on some fresh arugula!
I baked the pizza at around 400 for 20 minutes or so.
This was my first time ever eating sourdough pizza and I have to say, I loved it and can’t wait to make it again!
In the future I would probably experiment with adding some garlic powder into the dough.

Recipe: Sourdough Pizza crust

  • 25-30 grams sourdough starter
  • 250 grams flour
  • 1 gram salt
  • 200 grams water
  • Toppings of your choice

1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
2.) In a large bowl mix all ingredients together
3.) Let sit for 20-30 minutes
4.) While waiting, prepare ingredients of your choice for the pizza
5.) Once dough has rested, use some flour and either roll out the crust or have your luck at spinning the dough in the air
6.) Add ingredients to your pizza
7.) Place pizza on a stone or pizza pan (you can place cornmeal on bottom of pan to prevent sticking)
8.) Keep in oven for roughly 20 minutes or until crust is nice and golden
9.) Remove from oven and enjoy!
